In the discussion on the films Stop Filming Us and Fonja, we will look at the positive as well as the negative aspects of the European Union’s development aid. Moreover, we will consider not only the view of Slovak humanitarian and development organisations on neocolonialization, but the depiction of the countries of the global south in audiovisual and visual arts as well.

Das vielschichte Kammerspiel führt uns in einen geschlossenen Mikrokosmos, verwebt Dokumentarisches mit Fiktionalem und erzählt dabei gleichzeitig vom handwerklichen wie vom sozialen Moment des Filmemachens: ein Film im Film im Film.

Eine junge deutsche Regisseurin erschafft den Insassen einer Jugendstrafanstalt in Madagaskar einen Möglichkeitsraum in der Isolation. Sie entfacht Leidenschaft, Zuversicht und Vertrauen und überreicht ihrem Team die Werkzeuge um sprichwörtlich ein Fenster zur Welt in ihre Gefängnismauern zu schneiden. Eine vermeintlich verlorene Generation verleiht sich mittels kollektivem Selbstportrait eine starke Stimme. Dabei gewähren die Filmemacher uns nicht nur Einblick in ihre Schicksale, sondern erlauben uns an einem Reflexions- und Selbstermächtigungsprozesses Teil zu haben, der weit über das finale Filmprodukt hinaus geht.Second screening!
